2. Formalities Chk Pass / Fail

  • Formalities Chk Pass: The application meets the basic filing requirements.

  • Formalities Chk Fail: The application lacks some basic formalities or documents.

 

3. Marked for Exam / Objected

  • Marked for Exam: Assigned to an examiner for substantive examination.

  • Objected: The examiner has raised objections (e.g., similarity with existing marks, descriptiveness). A response is needed from the applicant.

 

4. Exam Report Issued / Accepted

  • Exam Report Issued: Official report containing objections or observations.

  • Accepted: The application has passed examination and is accepted for publication.

 

5. Advertised / Accepted & Advertised

  • Advertised: The mark is published in the Trade Marks Journal for public opposition.

  • Accepted & Advertised: Mark was accepted during examination and then published.

 

6. Opposed / Notice of Opposition

  • Opposed: A third party has filed an opposition during the publication period.

  • Notice of Opposition: Legal notice filed against the application; applicant must respond.

 

7. Registered

  • The trademark has been successfully registered. A registration certificate is issued.

 

8. Refused / Abandoned / Withdrawn

  • Refused: Application rejected after examination or opposition.

  • Abandoned: No response filed within the stipulated time or non-compliance.

  • Withdrawn: The applicant voluntarily withdraws the application.

 

9. Removed

  • The registered trademark has been removed from the register (e.g., for non-renewal).
